About the Author

Sholom Morgan

My name is Sholom Morgan. I was born and raised in a small suburb near Chicago Illinois (USA). I learned how to read and write Hebrew at age 7, and was very fluent by the time of my Bar Mitzva at age 13. For high school I attended Beis Midrash LaTorah (Hebrew Theological College) in Skokie, Illinois (USA), for many years. Being Jewish is one of my passions.

I have taught in several Jewish day schools and Hebrew schools all across the United States. I also lived in Israel for nearly five years. I currently teach Hebrew language and Judaic studies.

My teaching career began in September 1966, when I began teaching Hebrew and Jewish studies at a synagogue near Chicago. The students in my class were almost my age, and my mother, Vivian, taught in the classroom next door to mine. My father, Lester, now teaches computers to senior citizens. My wife, Sara, my brother Nachman, his wife Esther, my sister Rochel, and her husband Dovid, either have been or are teachers. Teaching runs in my family and is another one of my passions.

I graduated college in 1974 with a Bachelor's degree in print and broadcast journalism and public relations. I have written articles and editorials for many newspapers. Writing is yet another one of my passions.

I thank G-d for giving me the strength and wisdom to write this book. And I hope I have successfully combined my passions for teaching, writing and being Jewish into a book which enables you to be the kind of Jew that G-d wants you to be.

Have a Jewish day!
